Lovely grand hotel in the heart of Lisboa. Our Room 2 had two giant windows overlooking the bustling Largo Rafael Bordalo Pinheiro (square), but totally soundproof and dark at night with shutters closed. This square is much quieter than the adjacent Largo do Carmo square that was heaving with the Carnation Revolution celebrations (go every year around 25 April). Super comfy bed and pillows. Room with mini bar. Good freshly-made breakfasts with coffees made to order were just what we needed after late nights in the Bairro Alto which is only stumbling distance away. Most of all, it was a great pleasure to meet Catarina and Daniel who indulged me in my "special request" and clunky efforts to learn Portuguese. Thank you for such a fun and fabulous visit. You certainly do convey a unique welcoming hospitality and we hope to see you again soon!

The staff was amazing! Emails prior to our arrival were answered quickly and our room request of twin beds was honored. Staff made reservations for our dinner our first night there and the day staff had wonderful recommendations for how to see the city. Breakfast both days was amazing, with so many options - so good to have eggs after so many days of walking the Camino. We had an unfortunate experience the morning we left. Having booked a taxi the night before to the airport - the taxi never came. The staff called every taxi company and were so stressed on our behalf - even running down the street to try and hail a taxi for us. In the end it all worked out - and we did catch our flight (without a giving them a proper thank you) So...Thank you! I can't say enough about this hotel, the location and, most importantly, the staff!

This is a unique building given that it is over 250 years old and is one of the few buildings that survived the 1755 earthquake. All rooms are on the first floor (note there is no lift) with the balance of the building used as luxury apartment rentals. The staff are exceptional and constantly go out of their way to assist you with any needs you might have including a privat driver to transfer you to the airport. The breakfast room was clean and quiet - a real treat. The food offerings were extensive and the quality and freshness were exceptional. If you're looking for excellent service and a unique experience, I'd strongly recommend you stay here. Oh yes, one additional bonus - location is 10 out of 10.

The location was perfect to get around the city; the room was spacious and clean; the breakfast was the perfect way to start the day; the staff was exceptional! Daniel was always there to offer great suggestions for restaurants and calling ahead to make reservations. He is very knowledgeable about Portugal’s history and culture and shared much valuable information. Catarina was so kind and quite knowledgeable as well. She made excellent recommendations about our trips to Sintra, Belem and Oporto. They were genuinely interested in our having the best experience in Portugal.

A very central location at the heart of Chiado, close to the Baixo/Chiado subway stop; an elegant building — once the palatial city residence of a wealthy family — within walking distance of multiple restaurants; a large, well-appointed, beautiful room with big windows, elegantly decorated with antiques — probably the palace’s former dining room judging from the garlands of fruit carved on its ceiling; a luxurious black marble bathroom with plush towels and robes; a beautiful breakfast spread served in the tiled former kitchen; very pleasant staff — almost perfect…
